Custom Knife Maker Dan Dennehy has passed away.

All of us who knew Dan were saddened with the passing of veteran knifemaker, knife thrower and Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall-Of-Fame© member Dan Dennehy. He was 88.

Dan had made knives since when he was in the Navy in World War II. Some have credited him with being among the first, maybe even THE first, to use Micarta® for knife handles. He was one of the founding members of The Knifemakers' Guild and was a Guild member at the time of his passing. His son, John, is a custom sheath maker and knife maker. The Dennehy shop has relocated to Loveland, Colorado.

Dan donated one of his custom Bowie knife recreations to the Alamo Museum in San Antonio, Texas where it is displayed.

Dan was one of the Gunsite Family and he made custom knives for Col. Cooper, me and other Gunsite Family members.

We will have more about Dan in a future posting.

God Bless Dan!
